New Yorker June Game/50 Open

     5-Rounds, Swiss-System chess tournament, 50 minutes per player (Game/50), in the beautifully renovated, well-lighted 3rd floor Conference Center, New Yorker Hotel, 481 Eighth Avenue at 34th Street (across from Penn Station, near 33rd Street PATH trains), New York City: 212-971-0101.

     All players must be current members of the U.S. Chess Federation (non-USCF members join when registering for the tournament, by adding the membership dues to the entry fee).  The USCF Official June 2008 Rating List will be used for this tournament. CCA Minimum Ratings may also be used at the Director's discretion. 

     Two separate sections.

      1). Open Section, open to all.

 PRIZES     

 1st - $500, 2nd - $250, 3rd - $100,

 Top scorer, Under 2000 or Unrated: $160,

Top scorer, rated Under 2000: $150,

Top scorer, rated Under 2000: $140.

     2). Under 1800 Section, open to players rated Under 1800, or unrated players.

 PRIZES     

 1st - $400, 2nd - $200, 3rd - $100,

($100 Under 1800 prize limit to Unrated Players) 

 Top scorer, rated Under 1600: $105,

  Top scorer, rated Under 1400: $95

On-site registration ends 10:30 am.

Game times:  11 am, 1:30 pm, 3:30 pm, 5:30 pm & 7:30 pm

      Limit of two half-point byes (must commit before 1:30 pm). Re-entry: $30.

     ALL ENTRY FEES $20 LESS to rated players who enter the Greater NY Junior Chess Championship (1-Day Schedule) on Sunday, June 15! 

     ALL ENTRY FEES $20 LESS to Unrated players (only players with 3 games or less are unrated)!

       Entry fee refunded, less $10 service charge for each player refund requested up until 30 minutes before round. N0 REFUNDS IF LESS THAN 30 MINUTES BEFORE GAME TIME.     To withdraw after June 12, call the New Yorker Hotel, beginning late Friday afternoon, at 212-971-0101 (ask for "Chess Tournament"), or 845-569-9969, and BE SURE TO SPEAK TO THE TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR-- DO NOT LEAVE A MESSAGE WITH THE OPERATOR, because these are often not delivered in time to prevent your losing by forfeit!
